Dishwalla - Juniper Road CD Review by Bobby R Rock​Dishwalla – Juniper Road CD Review. I have been a Dishwalla fan since the beginning when they released Pet Your Friends back in 1. Counting Blue Cars that they are known most for.  The band released 4 albums with singer JR Richards who has since moved on to a solo career.

My favourite Dishwalla CD’s have always been the aforementioned Pet Your Friends and their second release titled And You Think You Know What Life Is About.  I felt that these 2 CD’s showcased them as a band with a unique sound that evolved around a vibe and feel, taking their time through the songs to create some great tunes. Somewhere along the line I felt that the band left this formula to create much lighter, ballad type material that sounded much like the music JR Richards left to make on his solo albums. Being a fan of Richards voice, I was leary when I heard Dishwalla was going to release their 5th record with new singer Justin Fox.  I jumped all over the CD when it was first released in May 2.

Honeymoon Suite – Hands Up CD Review I have to admit that I am usually reluctant to listen to a new album released by an artist that has been around for 30+ years.

Of course when you first listen to new music your mind is filled with comparisons, thoughts, judgments and first impressions.  Those first impressions were that the songs were really well written, catchy and thankfully returning to the sound of the Dishwalla that I grew to love back in 1. I have had a few months to listen to the new album front to back on many occasions and think that Justin Fox’s vocals really compliment the bands style.  It is great to hear a band that has a distinctive sound, turn into a new band with a very talented new singer. The album takes you through a number of different sounding songs to suit your mood providing the sound that only the band Dishwalla can reproduce.  Especially songs like Now I Know that showcases familiar sounding guitars as well as keyboards on the tune Hand In Hand, that you would hear on earlier albums. Stand out tracks on the CD include the radio friendly songs Give Me A Sign and Set Me Free as well as the current sounding Don’t Fade Away.  As I listened more to the album I gravitated towards the slower tempo compositions such as Miles Away and Here For You, where singer Justin Fox really shines. All in all I find that Dishwalla has found new life 2. If you love checking out new music that is well written and performed then this is a must have. Podcast Episode 3 - 1.

Canada’s legendary rock bands.  I was hesitant because I didn’t want this new collection of songs to tarnish their legacy by putting out subpar material.  Listening to this with an opening mind, I was pleasantly surprised. Honeymoon Suite is the band that I speak of, who have just released a brand new album titled Hands Up through a Pledge. I will give a few thoughts on each song as I have been able to listen to the album quite a few times. Hands Up – Great opening tune that is a mid tempo rocker with plenty of catchy parts throughout that stick with you. Like The Stars – This to me is a classic Honeymoon Suite sound which has some great classy guitar leads near the end of the song courtesy of Derry Grehan. Never Was A Forever – my personal favourite on the album in which Johnnie Dee really shines vocally.  He has not lost a step at all which is so nice to hear.  If you are a guitar fan there is also plenty to listen to with 2 great solo’s. Market Square with Leah Marlene – this song features Derry’s daughter trading off vocals with Johnnie as well as providing harmonies which sound amazing.  I find that this song has a real modern feel to it as well.
